Today I gave my knees a well deserved break. I have recorded about 11 miles this week already and I started to feel some soreness in my left knee. So this morning I set out to take a long bike ride using Zach's sisters old Mongoose. Zach lives in Seminole county which is home to tons of bike trails. He told me the quickest route to get to one and I was off! I spent about an hour riding my bike trying to petal as fast as I could. I tried to use google maps to figure out how many miles I traveled, and it was probably around 11 or 12 total. I could not avoid being embarrassingly passed by other bike enthusiasts who were riding their very expensive looking road bikes. Either way, I got a good sweat going and my quads were definitely sore afterwards. So it was good to give my knees a break, since I have no where to do any type of cross training. Since Zach and I are leaving tomorrow morning, I will take tomorrow off for travel. We will be traveling to Raleigh, NC to spend the night with Zach's good family friend. The following morning we will travel back to Erie where I will hopefully be able to get home in time to go for a run at the gym. This being the end of my first week, I have to say everything is going well so far. I feel great, and I cant wait to increase my mileage next week. Unfortunately I will have to do this back in cold, dreary Erie Pa. The good thing about going back is that I have access to a gym nearby and I can utilize cross trainers, weights, and treadmills. The downside is that I will be leaving this amazing weather and the benefits of running outside.
Today is New Years Eve! I will not be out celebrating out this year due to Zach's weak stomach and our plans to get up in the morning to drive to NC. But we will be having a very nice dinner with his family which is nice since we are not sure when we will be back down to Florida for a while. NYE is one of my favorite holidays because its like a new beginning. It is a chance to start over and reflect on the past year of your life. 2011 was an amazing year. I was able to finally move in with Zach and get own apartment together. He is truely the love of my life and makes me so happy to be with everyday! There is not much that I would like to change in 2012, I feel very happy with my life. Starting this training program so close to new years is also a good motivator to keep going strong. I want to start out 2012 in good shape and good health. I am excited to see what this new year will bring! I hope everyone who reads this has a great new year!!!
See ya in 2012!
